PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW):

Every Sunday during the 10:00 AM Mass, all children from grades 1-4 are invited to “break open the word” during a special Liturgy of the Word for Children.  Accompanied by a seasoned catechist, the children will be invited by the priest/Presider to listen to the Sunday scriptures in a style and language that they can understand. The Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) takes place in the lower level of the church (Antioch Annex) and lasts all of 10-15 minutes, after which the children will be returned to the church to continue their participation in the Mass. There is no registration for the CLOW, and children need not be present every week in order to participate. No roll is taken, and all children are welcome.  Adult leaders are always needed, and all volunteers will be arranged on a rotating schedule. Commitment for volunteers amounts to once every 4 weeks.  No special experience is necessary, but standard archdiocesan clearances and Safe Environment Training are required. Any adult who would like to work in this ministry is asked to contact Mary Anne Monroe at the Parish Religious Education Office at 610-664-3770, ext. 16 or at prep@saintmarg.org.

Elementary Religious Education (Grades 1 to 7):

St. Margaret Church provides for the religious education of young parishioners who attend public and private schools.  Classes are held on Sunday mornings between Labor Day and Memorial Day from 8:30-9:45 AM at the St. Margaret School.  The Parish Religious Education Program (or PREP) is staffed by parishioners whose gift and calling is to share their faith and testimony with our children.  Anyone who is so called is urged to volunteer.  No special education or experience is necessary, but archdiocesan training and standard PA. Clearances are required. Parents/parishioners are needed to serve as teachers, classroom aides, substitutes, and hall monitors. Each Sunday PREP session begins with a gathering prayer service followed by one hour of classroom religious instruction. PREP students utilize the WE BELIEVE Program by Sadlier. They participate in communal prayer, engage in community service, and support all aspects of parish life. For more information on PREP, or to enroll your child in religious instruction, please contact Mary Anne Monroe at the Parish Religious Education Office at 610-664-3770, ext. 16 or at prep@saintmarg.org.
