MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
Leaders of Song
Cantors
• Greets the congregation and announces all hymns
• Leads the congregation in singing each hymn during Mass with organ or piano accompaniment
• Proclaims the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation in song
Junior Cantors
• For Grades 3 through 8
• Performs all duties as Cantor, on a limited and guided basis
• Learns all music for the Mass, including Service Music (Mass Setting, Psalm, etc.)
• The goal of the Junior Cantor Training is to “graduate” and become an independent Cantor
Ensembles
Schola: Performs two Masses per Month (1st & 3rd Sun.)
• High-Level harmony singing: 4-part hymns and meditations
• Focuses on traditional sacred and classical choral music
• Sight-Reading not required but strongly encouraged
• Independent learning of vocal lines required
• Weekly Rehearsal: Thursday 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Youth Choir: Performs one Mass per Month (4th Sun.)
• For Grades 3 – 8
• Focuses on clean, unison singing of Mass parts and hymns
• Monthly Rehearsal: 12:30 – 1:15 PM on the 3rd Sunday of each month
