St. Margaret’s Music Ministry is a dynamic group of volunteer musicians who love to use their gifts to serve God and our Parish. There are several ways we serve:
Cantors
Adult Cantors
Greets the congregation and announces all hymns
Leads the congregation in singing each hymn during Mass with organ, piano, or guitar accompaniment
Proclaims the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation in song
Junior Cantors
For Grades 3 through 8
Performs all duties as Cantor on a limited and guided basis
Learns all music for the Mass, including Service Music (Mass Setting, Psalm, etc.)
The goal of the Junior Cantor Training is to “graduate” and become a full-time Cantor
Ensembles
Schola: Performs two Masses per Month (1st & 3rd Sun.)
High-Level harmony singing: 4-part hymns and meditations
Focuses on traditional sacred and classical choral music
Sight-reading not required but strongly encouraged
Independent learning of vocal lines required
Weekly Rehearsal: Thursday 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Youth Choir: Performs one Mass per Month (4th Sun.)
For Grades 3 – 8
Focuses on clean, unison singing of Mass parts and hymns
Monthly Rehearsal: 12:30 – 1:15 PM on the 3rd Sunday of each month
